Gentlemen,
With reference to your letter no.1.254/11 of the 24th of March, transmitting copy of correspondence with the Consulting Engineers with regard to certain proposals for dredging the Harbour at hong kong, I am directed by Mr.Secretary Amery to inform you that tho works proposed in paragrapna 2 and 3 of the telegram from the Soverer of llong Kong dated the 5th of March, have now been sanctioned. in vies, however, of the ambiguity in paragraph 4 of that telegram, to which attention was drawn by the Consulting engineers, une Jovernor was asked to explain more fully the proposal contained unerein, and I am now to enclose for your
information, an extract from a telegram from the Governor dated the 4th of May, which confirms the supposition of the Consulting engineers that the proposed dredging would be in a south easterly
direction and not South-westerly, as originally stated.
